धन्वन्तरी स्तोत्र Dhanwantari Stotra
नमामि धन्वन्तरिमादिदेवम्
सुरासुरैर्वन्दितपादपाद्मम् ।
लोके जरारुग्भयमृत्युनाशम्
दातारमीशम् विविधौषधीनाम् ।।
I offer my humble obeisance to Dhanwantrai- who is the first God (first God who worked for the health and welfare of people) and is glorified by gods and demons, who destroys all the ‘fear’, ‘disease’, ‘death’, and ‘ageing / old age’, and who is the giver of various herbs, medicines, and life styles (and habits) to be/become healthy.
Dhanwantari is regarded as the God of Medicine. There are basically two schools of Ayurveda. Atreya school represents school of Medicine, Charak is descendant of Atreya. Dhanwantari school represents school of Surgery, Sushruta is descendant of Dhanwantari school.
